"Life in the UK" Citizenship Test

Hoping to settle in (rather than flee) the UK?

March 2009 – Find out if you’re ready to become a fully-fledged British citizen with Life in the UK Citizenship Test. Revise using official study materials and sit mock tests to find out if you’re ready for the real thing.

Focus Multimedia has produced this easy to use software to meet growing demand for comprehensive learning tools. As the real test is taken on a computer, this is the most effective way to revise.

The Life in the UK Test must be taken by anybody who wishes to become a British Citizen. Applicants must have completed at least 5 years’ lawful residence in the UK (2 years if they are married to a British subject).

During the test, you have 45 minutes to answer 24 questions based on The Official Home Office Book: 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship (Second Edition)'. You will also be asked about the part of the UK you live in – England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. To pass the test, you must answer at least 18 of the questions correctly.

The test currently costs £34 which means it can be costly if you fail and have to take the test again. Make sure that doesn’t happen by using this PC CD-ROM. It includes the official Home Office handbook on which the questions are based. You can read the complete book on your screen or choose to have it read out aloud by your computer.

Life in the UK Citizenship Test allows you to test yourself on what you’ve learnt. When you feel confident, you can set up a realistic mock test. This will help you find out whether you’re ready for the real test. All the questions are based on the Official Home Office study materials, giving you the best preparation for the real thing.

All of the questions and answers include a voiceover option. You can even transfer the data to your iPod or other portable media player so you can test yourself when you’re away from the computer. Alternatively, you may prefer to print the test papers and revise from them wherever you are.

Also included is vital information on booking the test, taking the test and what to do after you have passed your test, so you will be fully informed on all aspects of becoming a British citizen.
