Leipziger Messe cancels GC Asia

Economy blamed for withdrawal of Singapore event

Leipziger Messe has withdrawn is support for GC Asia, the annual games event held in Singapore, due to the "overall currently prevailing economic situation."

The show had been running from 2007 – 2009, with the last event attracting over 80 exhibitors and 102,500 attendees. It also hosted the first ever DICE Summit Asia.

"It is a regrettable, but necessary decision," said managing director of LMI Asia, subsidiary of Leipziger Messe International, Jörg Zeissig. "We will continue to keep an eye on the Asian games market so that we can pick up again with new concepts if this becomes appropriate."

GC Asia 2010 had been scheduled for September 8-12.
