Legendary cools videogame ambitions

Former EA, Activision exec leaves movie production house; acquisitions off the agenda

Movie production house Legendary Pictures has scaled back its videogame ambitions, with exec Kathy Vrabeck leaving the company at the end of the month.

Vrabeck joined Legendary from EA's Casual label in 2009, when the company revealed plans to enter mobile and web gaming.

It was also linked to a buyout of Gears of War developer Epic Games, and according to a report by the LA Times had been in negotiations with the UK's Jagex about a possible acquisition.

But any future digital projects are likely to come through partnerships rather than acquisitions, according to the report, as Legendary focuses on movies, TV and comic book markets.
