Lead The Meerkats

Savanna-set action sim available on WiiWare now.

Hull, UK / Ever wondered how 'simples' it really is to live like a meerkat? Now you can find out, thanks to Lapland Studio's upcoming mammalian action-simulation, Lead the Meerkats, released 28th May on Nintendo WiiWare.

Lead the Meerkats is one of the first ever games to be based on the often hilarious trials and tribulations of daily meerkat life, surrounding you with fun loving characters as they playfully interact with each other and try to reach a common goal.

In this engaging WiiWare title, you take up the role of a young female meerkat, flung onto the dangerous, arid and rocky side of the African Savanna desert, with the objective being to reclaim the lush, green area from an invading meerkat pack.

Surviving the harsh desert will require strong leadership skills, clever underground expansion and plenty of hairy moments, especially when coming face-to-face with the hungry predators roaming the African sands and skies for a tasty meerkat snack. Watch out for the soaring eagles and tenacious jackals, or else you'll be top of the menu.

The vibrant meerkat experience is brought to life using the Wii's motion controls, guaranteed to have you bobbing up and down in front your TV like your on-screen friends. As the leader of the new meerkat pack, you need to coordinate the building and expanding of your own Meerkat Manor - an intricate network of underground burrows, all while growing the size of your pack and keeping them protected. Order them to keep guard on vital posts, gather resources and food for expansions, attack incoming threats and, as every meerkat loves, dig!

You'll need to expand your burrows and territory while fighting off rival meerkat packs to successfully rule the Savannah, building a force to reclaim your lush, green home back from the darker coloured meerkats.

The lively, personality-filled animals of the game's African Savannah come in all shapes and sizes, from your own conscientious, maternal meerkats and that of the rival packs, to philosophical turtles, as well as plenty of tasty scorpions to snack on as you work through the day.

Lead the Meerkats promises more meerkat-related quirks and hijinks than a Compare the Market advert - you can even stand in front of your TV and swing your arms like a boxer to increase the strength of your character - and a donation from each purchase will go towards the Kalahari Meerkat Project, helping to support their research and safeguard the future of the meerkats.

Lead the Meerkats offers genuine fun for gamers of all ages and is approved by PEGI, ESRB and USK rating boards.

Lead the Meerkats will launch on the European WiiWare platform on May 28th for 1,000 Nintendo points with a US release date still to be announced.
