Koukoi Games gets $1m in funding

"With these resources we are able to launch the game globally and compete against other studios"

Finnish mobile developer Koukoi Games has just secured $1 million in a round of funding from 25 investors, led by Frontier Singapore.

"The current state of the business was mature enough for getting funding as we are currently finalizing our first mobile game, Crashing Season, to be released soon. With these resources we are able to launch the game globally and compete against other studios with strong marketing efforts. And, of course, we can grow our business and team better now," Koukoi Games told GamesIndustry.biz

"During next year we are able to expand our business to new business areas the game industry has, and scale our business through that move. It is still unannounced what we are going to do, but we can tell that it will be beneficial for the game industry as well as for our own business. Next year you will also see new games coming from the team."

Investors include Kimmo Alkio, Jari Rosendal, Hannu Syrjälä, Stefan Björkman, Henry Nilert, Pauli Hentunen and Jarkko Veijalainen and Koukoi Games stated it sees the round as more akin to angel investment than a seed round.

"We believe strongly that with the help of this funding and our investors we are able to strongly move forward, and plan our future better towards the common vision we have"

Koukoi Games was founded this year by a team with experience at Rovio, Nokia and IBM and is led by CEO is Antti Kananen.
