Korean Launch of Heroes Lore Zero Breaks Records for Hands-On Mobile
Network servers crash in unprecedented demand for latest version of blockbuster RPG
LONDON, UK-NOVEMBER 1, 2007-Hands-On-Mobile, the world's leading developer of connected games and applications announces that Heroes Lore Zero, the third and latest installment of its epic Heroes Lore fantasy role play game series has launched in South Korea shattering all previous mobile game download records with over 200,000 copies purchased in the first week alone.
The launch of Heroes Lore Zero triggered a frenzy of demand that did more than simply break download records:
One carrier reported that its network crashed due to the massive number of simultaneous downloads of Heroes Lore Zero by its users.
Heroes Lore Zero was the most searched term on Naver, South Korea's leading search engine. On one portal it ranked as the fourth most searched term for the entire week after launch.
Around 10,000 pre-orders of the game were sold five days before launch.
500 exclusive Heroes Lore gift pack sets sold out four days before launch, including a special edition Heroes Lore illustrator book; custom made Heroes Lore mobile handset charger/adapter; and a download of the mobile game.
"Every installment of the Heroes Lore series has enjoyed an incredibly successful launch, and we're delighted that Heroes Lore Zero has enjoyed the most successful launch yet, " said Eric Hobson, President and General Manager Hands-On Mobile, EMEA & SE Asia. "We are looking forward to transferring that success outside of Korea when we launch Heroes Lore later this year."
The first game in the series, Heroes Lore: Wind of Soltia, will be available to European carriers from November. Hands-On Mobile plans to follow this release with the launch in 2008 of the connected sequels, Heroes Lore: Knight of the Frozen Sea and then Heroes Lore Zero.
