The Konami Corporation today posted its first quarter financial results, with increases in revenues and profits thanks in part to its successful Digital Entertainment arm.
In the three months ending June 30, 2007 net revenue stood at JPY 60.7 billion (EUR 371.6 million), up 5.2 per cent on last year, while profit jumped a massive 82.2 per cent, to JPY 3.86 billion (EUR 23.7 million).
The company's Digital Entertainment arm, which contains the computer and video games businesses, performed well. Its net revenue rose by 8.6 per cent year on year to JPY 34.8 billion (EUR 213 million). The Gaming & System and Health & Fitness arms also increased revenues, though by a smaller amount.
Software titles cited in the division's strong performance included Pro Evolution Soccer and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, as well as baseball games specifically for the Japanese market.
Trading card games, arcade machines and online offerings also made a contribution in that area.
Consolidated cashflow was down overall, with a new office building and dividend payments given as the key reasons.
Unsurprisingly Konami took the most money in Japan, followed by Europe, Asia/Oceania and the US in that order.
The company's annual forecast remains the same in light of these results - net revenue at JPY 295 billion (EUR 1.8 billion), profit at JPY 18.3 billion (EUR 122 million) and a basic net income per share of JPY 133.33 (EUR 0.82) for the year ending March 31, 2008.
