Konami ships 1m copies of latest Castlevania in US and Europe
Lords of Shadow widely distributed but sales figures unknown
Konami has shipped one million copies of the latest Castlevania to retailers across Europe and the US.
No official sales figures were made available for the game, which launches in Japan on December 16. It's the first 3D iteration of the long-running franchise on PS3 and Xbox 360.
"Castlevania has truly reinvented itself with its move to next gen platforms and we're extremely pleased at the positive response we've seen toward Castlevania: Lords of Shadow globally, mainly due to the dedicated fans who have supported the series for so long," said Konami boss Shinji Hirano.
"The remarkable sales achieved in such a short time are a true testament of the work and dedication that went into this project, and we're very grateful to have partnered with such fine talent in the rebirth of one of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.'s most successful franchises."
The game, which received a healthy critical reception, was developed by Mercury Steam, with the assistance of Hideo Kojima's company, Kojima Productions.
