Kick-off
Facebook-based footie where you manage your friends.
PALO ALTO, CA – AUGUST 11, 2009 – Hive7, developer of MMO games on social sites Facebook, Bebo, and MySpace, today released a Facebook soccer game named Kick-off, designed for soccer fans all over the world.
“Soccer is the most popular sport in the world with millions of players and fans; Kick-off is a new way for them to enjoy the game,” said Rob Carroll, Hive7 Producer. “Kick-off encourages fun social interaction among soccer enthusiasts, allowing them to meet new people and build teams with their Facebook friends.”
Kick-off takes place in the fast-paced world of international soccer competition. A new Kick-off player assumes the role of team manager, while his friends form the team’s squad. Team managers schedule friendly matches, compete in play-off Cups, and climb the ranks of the Championship. Team members improve their skills over time as their squads battle other soccer fans around the globe.
In addition to managing their own teams, players may also be recruited by their friends. They can then train to become star players for any number of friends’ teams, potentially playing a different position in each.
Playing under FIFA rules with 11-member squads, gamers can compete in as many matches as they like. Teams score points for playing matches and receive a bonus for victories. All Kick-off teams are ranked by score, squad strength, and number of fans.
Kick-off matches run in real time; managers can watch players storm up and down the field with instant play-by-play commentary flashing upon the screen. With the ability to watch match replays and share these with friends, players can celebrate their victories or lament their defeats.
Kick-off fans can expect exciting new features in the months to come.
Players need a Facebook account and an Internet Browser (Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3.5, or Google Chrome).
Kick-off is free to play, and is available at http://apps.facebook.com/kick-off . For more information, visit www.hive7.com.
