Keen Games raises $10m in Series B funding round

Investment to further development of spiritual successor to Portal Knights

Portal Knights developer Keen Games announced today that it has raised $10 million in a Series B funding round.

The studio said that the investment will be used to further develop its upcoming open world sandbox RPG, which will support user-generated content.

Additionally, the funding will allow Keen Games to move into self-publishing.

The funding round was led by Hiro Capital and Tencent.

"We are delighted to be investing in such a stellar team," said Hiro Capital cofounder and partner Cherry Freeman.

"From the first moments playing their game prototype, we knew that they were on track to bottle lightning again and build upon the success of Portal Knights, a game that has been played and enjoyed by millions of people around the world."

Keen Games was founded in 2005 and is based out of Frankfurt, Germany.

Prior to Portal Knights, it was best known as the studio behind Sacred 3.
