JPM Interactive launches UK's first soap opera quiz game
Interactive TV viewers push the red button to test their Corrie knowledge
19 July 2006 - JPM Interactive has announced the launch of the UK's first soap opera-based quiz available on interactive TV. The Coronation Street Pub Quiz gives 8 million viewers of Sky Digital the opportunity to test their Corrie knowledge with a push of a red button.
Developed in conjunction with OpenTV's PlayJam channel, the Coronation Street Pub Quiz is a new genre of interactive TV games. Set inside the famous Rovers Return, it puts viewer's soap expertise and general knowledge to the test.
To play the game, viewers guess letters to make up a phrase and then select one of eight question categories including: Coronation Street, A to Z, entertainment, pop music, pot luck, people and places, sport and science and nature. Correctly answering the questions fills in the phrases and completed phrases progress the viewer along the prize trail. The viewers may be also offered bonuses, which award instant cash prizes and help their progress through the game. The game offers prizes of up to £20 per play.
Based on JPM Interactive's patent pending Gameology system, the players' progress is tracked throughout each game so that content and questions can be adapted to each player's skills level.
"Interactive TV offers a great opportunity for well known TV brands to develop a presence beyond broadcast channels and the Internet," said Charles Walker, Managing Director, JPM Interactive. "Being able to attract such a premier licence as Coronation Street clearly demonstrates the value our Gameology platform can offer content providers and brand owners alike."
