JOYSTICK JUNKIES SIGNS UP GAMESRADAR.COM & GAMESMASTER MAGAZINE TO SUPPORT TRUEPLAYERZ CHARITY EVENTS
LONDON - 06/09/05
British fashion label Joystick Junkies is proud to announce a media partnership with Future Publishing's GamesMaster magazine and GamesRadar.com site to support the Trueplayerz series of charity videogame tournaments.
Sponsored by UKOnline and featuring the launch of TMF's new show GAME ONE, Trueplayerz offers everyone the chance to play games, score great prizes and win cash for the charity of their choice.
The events bring together people from across the country to play on the latest games whilst enjoying Joystick Junkies fashion shows, live bands, top DJs and much more. The unique concept behind Trueplayerz is that the winner of each tournament decides where the money goes. It's as simple as that.
"The US market is well ahead of the UK in providing gamers with regular tournaments to practice for, meet their friends and win prizes at. With Future Publishing's support we'll be able to build Trueplayerz in to a regular event for the UK gaming community which also has a really positive message for the industry." commented Chris Birch from Joystick Junkies.
GamesRadar.com and GamesMaster Magazine will both be providing regular editorial coverage each month to support the events. Robin Alway, Editor of GamesMaster, said "Our readers are the most passionate gamers you'll meet so they're going to jump at the chance to test their skills, get money for charity and, of course, show everyone how damn good they are."
The Trueplayerz events are being held at The Marquee Club in London's Leicester Square on Sunday the 25th September, Sunday 23rd October and Sunday 20th November. Players will be competing on some of the biggest new games covering action, football and driving so there's something for everyone to show off their skills.
Trueplayerz has already garnered support from some of the biggest names in the games industry, which are generously donating great prizes for winners of heats throughout the day.
Sign up to one of Trueplayerz coveted tournament slots at www.JoystickJunkies.com or email Trueplayerz@joystickjunkies.com for details. There are only limited places so get your name down quick for a chance to win a year of UK Online's 8 Mb broadband service plus some top gaming prizes and cash for the charity of your choice.
It only costs £5 to enter the tournament or £3 for spectators (fees payable on arrival) but even if you're not a gaming expert, come down anyway - it's all for charity after all and there's a special prize for the gamer with the biggest crew!
There will be added entertainment during the day including side games, retro classics, a fashion show of Joystick Junkies new video games inspired clothing and an after party at the Marquee Club after the tournament final.
