JoWooD signs partnership deal with VeriSign

PC and console software publisher JoWooD Productions has signed a new deal with VeriSign to produce games for mobile phones.

PC and console software publisher JoWooD Productions has signed a new deal with VeriSign to produce games for mobile phones.

According to an official statement, VeriSign will turn JoWooD's "best selling and classic computer, online and videogames into a Java application for various mobile devices".

Specific titles have yet to be announced, but JoWooD's back catalogue includes games such as Neighbours From Hell, Legend of Kay, Kao the Kangaroo and SpellForce. Forthcoming titles include Gothic III and Alpine Ski Racing 2007.

"VeriSign is committed to providing the richest content with an exceptional user experience that is most relevant to our customerâs customer," said Kevin Dent, head of international licensing and syndication for VeriSign.

"JoWooD has great blockbuster brands which we feel can make an easy transition to the mobile space."

JoWooD CEO Albert Seidl added: "We are confident that JoWooD, in combination with Verisign, will strike new paths in the mobile games industry. This transatlantic exchange and synergy of know-how are the basis for further innovations."
