British Formula One star Jenson Button has signed up to endorse Chicane, an F1 title being produced exclusively for the forthcoming Gizmondo handheld games console, which is set to launch in the UK later this year.

The game, which is being developed by Handheld Games, is described as an ultra-realistic 3D title based on arcade style racing (yes, we're sure there's a contradiction in there too, but there you go) and will allow up to four players to compete against each other over a wireless Bluetooth link.

In another celebrity coup for Gizmondo, the game will also feature an original score created by Will.I.Am of popular American hip-hop outfit the Black Eyed Peas.

"Anyone who has ever wondered what it feels like to be behind the wheel of a racing car will love Chicane," enthused Button, going on to say that "it's as close as you'll get to the real thing and matched with Gizmondo's gaming performance, it will certainly get the adrenalin pumping!"

Gizmondo is a new gaming device featuring movie and music playback capabilities, mobile communications functions and a GPS positioning system. Produced by Tiger Telematics, the device is set to launch first in the UK, where it will arrive later this year - with its public debut due to take place at the Game Stars Live event in London at the start of September.
