Japanese ratings board to reopen this week
CERO will implement remote work system, adjusted working hours to mitigate COVID-19 spread
The Japanese entertainment ratings board, CERO, is preparing to resume operations later this week after a month-long hiatus due to COVID-19.
CERO announced a temporary pause on ratings assignments in early April as the country entered a state of emergency, saying at the time that it was not possible for its review board to work from home.
The board said today it would reopen on May 7, 2020, which was originally the day that Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe had set for the state of emergency to lift.
However, Abe today declared that the state of emergency would extend through the end of May due to fears about preemptive re-openings causing a second wave of COVID-19 cases.
CERO has said it will begin to implement remote working procedures, as well as work adjusted hours for those traveling to its offices to help them avoid peak commute times.
