Japanese paper leaks 3G PSP2 details
Further details of new handheld emerge ahead of official reveal
Japanese newspaper The Nikkei has reported that the PSP2 will feature 3G support, at least in Japan, to facilitate downloads and multiplayer, but not phone calls.
The Japanese service will apparently be carried by NTT DoCoMo, Japan's largest mobile network. Also in the report are rumours that the machine will feature a large, touch-sensitive OLED screen, and a specifically developed processor to enable higher-end visual fidelity.
A standard wireless connection is expected from the handheld, too. No mention was made of whether the 3G service will require contract or data-carrying fees.
Sony is expected to confirm the existence and announce the details of the PSP2 at an event which it is hosting in Japan on January 27.
