The man behind the God of War franchise, David Jaffe, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at this year's Game Career Seminar, part of the Game Developers Conference.
Jaffe, also co-founder of studio Eat, Sleep, Play since moving on from Sony Santa Monica, will give a talk entitled "From Grunt to 'God' to Startup: Career Lessons from the Edge of Game Development."
As part of the talk he will look back on some of the difficult decisions he's made during his career so far, and give some insight into the pros and cons of forming an independent studio.
Jamil Moledina, executive director of the conference, commented: "By launching two blockbuster franchises and then going indie, Jaffe has a wealth of insights on how to advance your career in the game industry.
"Given his outspoken views on game design, attendees can expect nothing less than the unvarnished truth behind career development both inside and outside the traditional development landscape."
GDC takes place this year at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from February 18-22, and the Game Career Seminar runs from 5:30pm on February 21 until 5pm on February 22.
The Game Career Seminar will also include other speakers on the subject of careers in videogames, including Carey Chico of Pandemic, Jason Pankow from Microsoft, Sylvia Trammel from SCEA and Matthew Jeffery from EA.
