Jaffe expected to leave Eat Sleep Play to pursue iOS development
Co-founder opening new San Diego studio
Update
Jaffe has confirmed via Twitter, that he has "zero plans to make games like Farmville and Angry Birds", but is founding a studio in San Diego in order to get back to frontline development.
It's understood that Jaffe will lead this team personally, and is leaving Eat Sleep Play at his own behest after the roll out process for Twisted Metal is complete.
Original story
Eat Sleep Play co-founder David Jaffe is expected to leave the company once Twisted Metal ships later this month, with the outspoken developer thought to be moving towards core audience iOS development.
Jaffe's business partner Scott Campbell began the rumour when he was interviewed by local paper the Salt Lake City Tribune, speaking about a new small project focus for Eat Sleep Play and expressing his belief that Jaffe would soon be moving on as he and the company had different priorities.
"It's a platform that is in our pockets almost 24/7," Campbell said of iOS devices. "It's kind of the size and types of games we're playing. You can certainly reach a lot more people. That's pretty exciting for us."
Campbell also suggested that Jaffe could well be moving on to the iOS market as well, claiming his interests were also in the 'casual' market, but with a different slant to Eat Sleep Play's.
"He's excited to go into the casual space as well," Campbell added when asked about the future of Jaffe. "He's got some projects that he's excited about. So we're kind of going down two separate paths."
Jaffe himself seemed to contest that assessment on Twitter, although he didn't deny his leaving, merely the definition of 'casual' which seemed to be inferred from Campbell's statement.
"The rumors of me making casual games post TM- as many of you define them- are highly exaggerated," wrote Jaffe on the micro-blogging site.
