iShoot
iPhone artillery combat game now available for other mobiles too.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - January 27, 2010 - iShoot, one of the most successful apps ever on iTunes, which made headlines for its developer's Cinderella story, is making its way onto mobile phones everywhere. Originally created for iPhone by independent developer Ethan Nicholas and brought to mobile by Hands-On Mobile, Inc., the world's leading publisher and developer of connected games and applications, iShoot is an artillery combat game in which tanks blast each other with a wide range of high-powered weapons, from basic shells and cluster bombs to the world-destroying Shiva Bomb. The game is available for download now on all major carriers and app stores in the U.S. and worldwide through distribution with I-play.
"iShoot is one of those incredibly addicting games that you can't stop playing," said Lynn Monica, VP & GM of Mobile Games, Hands-On Mobile. "With more than 10,000 downloads per day in iTunes, we are excited about the prospects of taking the game to multiple platforms so casual gamers everywhere can get in on the iShoot action."
One of the first iPhone games to be released to mobile platforms; iShoot features numerous play variations allowing for constantly changing gameplay. Players can take aim against computer controlled AI or hand off the phone to friends and play together. iShoot features 25 different weapons, including shells, missiles, cluster bombs, and nuclear warfare, photorealistic landscapes and drivable tanks. The gameplay directions are simple with only a handful of buttons used, so a player can go from beginner to expert shooter in minutes.
Originally created for the App Store and released in October 2008 for $2.99, iShoot was not an immediate success. Three months later, developer Nicholas released iShoot Lite, a free version of the app and less than 10 days later; iShoot was the number one top paid app in the iTunes App Store with nearly 17,000 downloads in one day.
"The success of iShoot is still amazing to me considering this was a game I developed in my free time because well, blowing up things is fun," said Nicholas. "With Hands-On Mobile bringing iShoot to other mobile platforms and making it available to so many more people, I will be very interested to follow the game's success. I can only hope that it follows the same path as the iTunes version."
