International App Conference & AppJam

"Limited amount of tickets left" for next month's do in Dundee.

Time is running out to sign up for the UK’s first international AppConference, which will be held in Dundee next month, announce organisers.

With only a limited amount of tickets left, conference host, Dundee College, is encouraging people not to miss out on the opportunity to join businesses from across Europe discuss and learn about one of the world’s fastest growing markets.

Bringing together the very best in professional app development from across the globe, the event will play host to a series of speakers from throughout the industry ranging from Forum.Nokia, the group which enables the design, development and distribution of apps to Gladiator Media which investigates user interface for the small screen.

Andy Mackenzie, Project Manager, Centre for Creative & Digital Industries for Dundee College, comments: “With only 100 delegate spaces, the conference will be close and intimate with a real focus on the transfer of the practical skills and knowledge required to gain a competitive edge. If you are already an app developer, or someone who is looking to get into app development, this conference is for you – with a programme of essential information to get you developing that killer app and connect you with all the people to make it happen.”

The global app development market is one of the most important but competitive areas of the creative industries, growing at a rate of 140% each year since 2007. It is expected to grow by 68% per year until 2013 and have an annual worth of over £10 billion.

The three day AppConference will also look at the creation and development of applications for new platforms such as the iPad, iPhone, Android and Facebook. It promises to explore the issues facing the new generation of developers, creating applications for some of the world's largest and most rapidly evolving platforms.

The international AppConference, which will run alongside the 48 hour development challenge AppJam, is part-funded by the Interreg Creative City Challenge project.

The event is taking place at Discovery Point in Dundee from the 8-10 November 2010, as part of the week long  NEoN Digital Arts Festival.

Tickets for AppCon can be purchased for £125. For only £175 organisers are offering an access all areas pass to those who wish to attend both the International App Development Conference and the NEoN Digital Arts Festival, as well as entry to festival cinema screenings at the city’s world-class Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre (DCA).
