Intel partners with Future for Core 2 Extreme campaign
Cross platform promotion as Intel's new processor targets gamers
31/10/06 - Future, the UK's leading publisher of games magazines and websites, has announced a cross-platform deal with Intel, to promote the computing giant's newly launched Core 2 Extreme processor range.
Designed specifically for high-powered gaming, the Intel Core 2 Extreme chips are part of the new, next-generation Core 2 Duo range and are 40% faster than their rivals.
In a pioneering three month deal brokered by Universal McCann, Future is promoting the processors through its games magazines, websites and events - as well as a newly created series of gaming tournaments.
Alongside traditional print and online advertising in Future's games portfolio, online PC gamers can take part in a web based gaming tournament. The Intel Extreme tournament is hosted by Future's www.gamesradar.com website. Kicking off on Sunday, 5th November, gamers can register at the Core 2 Extreme branded microsite at http://intel.gamesradar.com, to be in with the chance of winning £thousands worth of fantastic prizes - including an Alienware Core 2 Extreme PC.
Gamers also get the chance to experience the power of the new Core 2 Extreme in the flesh at a major gaming event. Future has created the Intel Extreme LAN Party, which takes place at the i29 gaming tournament at Newbury Racecourse, from Friday 10th - Sunday 12th November. With more than 1000 gamers expected to take part in the Intel event - the winning player and team will walk away with their share of more than £10k worth of prizes.
Completing the cross-platform campaign, Intel sponsored the "Online Game of the Year" at this year's Golden Joystick Awards, held in London on Friday, 27th October. The Golden Joystick Awards attracted over 500,000 votes and support of major media partners including; The Sun, Nuts and BBC Radio.
John Kimbell is Press Account Director for Universal McCann:
"Future's portfolio of games magazines, websites and their specially-created tournaments made them the perfect partner to promote Intel's Core 2 Extreme to an audience of passionate gamers.
