2,26 million different viewers of the “Intel Extreme Masters” show on Eurosport and Eurosport 2 after the first two episodes – Each episode available on demand on Eurosport Player – The third episode broadcasted on February 24

Cologne, February 17, 2011 – The first two episodes of the ‘Intel Extreme Masters’ show, the outcome of the cooperation between Eurosport, Intel and Turtle Entertainment, the leading company in competitive gaming, have gathered the audience of about 2,26 million different viewers in all broadcasts combined. The premiere episode, which was on the air in September last year, was followed by almost one million different viewers, including the replays, whereas the second episode, broadcasted in November, attracted altogether 1,3 million different viewers – around 400,000 more than the first one. All episodes are available on demand on Eurosport Player, Eurosport's web-TV service. The third episode of the show will be presented to the public on February 24, 2011.

The entire TV show covers the fifth season of the Intel Extreme Masters, the global league of the video game champions, organized by Turtle Entertainment. After the first episode focusing on the Swedish team Fnatic and the second one following two professional Quake Live players at gamescom 2010 in Cologne, the upcoming episode concentrates fully on one of the disciplines of the Intel Extreme Masters league – Starcraft 2, the most anticipated game of the last years. It will present also the participants of the Intel Extreme Masters V American Championship in New York as well as the European Championship in Kiev competing for high prize money as well as slots in the Intel Extreme Masters V World Championship, which will take place at CeBIT in Hanover (Germany) in March this year. The episode will be broadcasted on February 24 on Eurosport 2 at 20:30.

"400,000 viewers more than in the first episode of our Intel Extreme Masters show is totally awesome and shows that eSports is not marginalized sports anymore. The average sports television viewer enjoys watching eSports,” says Nik Adams, the Executive Producer at Turtle Entertainment responsible for the show. ”We are looking forward to the broadcast of the next episode covering the Intel Extreme Masters events in New York and Kiev,” he adds.

"The Eurosport Group remains committed to broadcasting innovative sports programming such as the 'Intel Extreme Masters' and we are looking forward to the next editions in America and Europe,” said Vincent Le Goff, Head of Programming for Eurosport. “Coverage of 'Intel Extreme Masters' will extend across the Eurosport Group's leading multimedia platform, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy their passion on as many screens as possible,” he added.

Each episode will be available on demand at www.eurosportplayer.com for at least a week following first broadcast. In addition, there will be a short highlight clip following every episode available in the free online video sections across Eurosport’s network of eleven language websites.
