The organisers of the Leipzig Games Convention Developers Conference have announced that semiconductor manufacturer Intel has signed up as the main sponsor for the event.

Intel has supported GCDC since 2004, and will this year present new multi-threading techniques and development tools at the show.

"Our long-term partnership with GCDC offers us the ability to strengthen our cooperation with game developers and thus makes it possible for us to better respond to their needs and expectations," said Intel's Arne Peters.

GCDC 2007 will take place at the Leipzig Messe Convention Centre from August 20 - 22. More than 650 participants from 20 countries were present at last year's event, when speakers included Don Daglow, Peter Molyneux and Bill Roper.

"Europe has a tremendous pool of talented game developers," Peters added.

"Europe deserves its own platform to share experiences, thoughts and views and information. GCDC is an important international conference and its success grows each year."
