Instinct Takes Gamble

Ambitious middleware provider signals its intent with the appointment of industry heavy-hitter Mike Gamble as Business Development Director

June 8th 2006

Next-generation software tools provider Instinct Technology has emphasised the scope of its ambition with the appointment of former Microsoft and THQ executive Mike Gamble to the position of Business Development Director.

Gamble will be responsible for bringing the company's flagship product, the Instinct Studio game development suite, from its current Beta status to full commercial release. He will also be charged with building the company's business relationships with associated technology companies, developers and publishers.

"Every so often, a company emerges with just the right product at just the right time and I'm convinced that this is one of those occasions," says Mike Gamble. "With development budgets under ever-increasing pressure, there has never been a greater need for high-quality tools at a competitive price - which is exactly what Instinct Studio delivers."

"Having invested a great deal of time, money and inspiration into Instinct Studio, we needed someone with a unique range of skills and experience to present us to the creatives and decision makers in game development," says Instinct Technology's CEO, Frank Gallagher. "Mike is, without question, the perfect man for this role and we look forward to giving him every support he needs to make a significant impact."

Instinct Studio is a suite of software tools designed to allow game creators to produce state-of-the-art interactive products.

As computer and video games have become more complex and technically-demanding, game creators have come to need more efficient tools and production processes in order to meet more demanding deadlines. Instinct Studio has been designed from the ground up to satisfy these needs.

Instinct Studio's comprehensive toolset allows its user access to cutting-edge features and techniques, including real-time, per-pixel lighting, normal mapping, specular highlighting and volumetric stencil-buffer shadowing. The suite acts as a 'one-stop-shop' by providing a variety of WYSIWYG tools, including project-based resource management, fully-integrated run-time editable components, hot loading and real-time previewing.

Instinct Studio is backed up by world class technology, tools, documentation and support. The suite has been designed to integrate seamlessly with existing 'best in class' middleware solutions for specialist functionality (e.g. physics, artificial intelligence, multi-player networking etc.), allowing users to create fully-featured, state-of-the-art games for the new generation of game systems.

Instinct Technology will début Instinct Studio at the forthcoming Develop Conference, which will take place in Brighton between July 11th and 13th.
