Innovative games honoured at IMGA awards
TNO research wins Grand Prix Award for Triangler
Six games taking advantage of the latest developments in technology have been honoured in the International Mobile Gaming Awards.
The awards are for games that utilise new concepts including location-based gaming, massively multiplayer mobile gaming, mobile-to-TV games and new handset technology such as cameras, microphones and connectivity.
Triangler, from Netherlands research group TNO, was awarded the US $15,000 Grand Prix Award and the Most Innovative Game Award.
IKS Mobile won the Best Use of Flash Award for Crazy Matches, while Firemint was awarded the Excellence in 3D Award for Mega Monster.
The Best Interactive Experience Award was picked up by SuperHappyFunFun for 3DTiltAWorld, and Anino Mobile's Anima Wars walked away with the Best Use of Connectivity Award.
"Receiving the Grand Prix of the prestigious IMG Awards is a great honour for us and being recognised for most innovative game is important for TNO, whose core business is innovation," commented Victor Klos of TNO.
"The prize will help us to further develop Triangler and Triangler technology and is a stimulus for our mobile gaming ongoing research," he said.
IMGA judging panellist and mobile game developer Matthew Bellows commented: "The International Mobile Game Awards supports and encourages the highest potential of our emerging creative medium."
