InnoGames revenues rise to €130m in 2016

Mobile and online games firm reports 68% year-on-year growth, most successful period in ten-year history

Germany-based games publisher InnoGames ended 2016 with record revenues of €130m.

The firm released its financial results for the past year today, showing year-on-year growth of 68%. This marks a tenth consecutive year of profitable growth for InnoGames, with 2016 its most successful 12-month period to date.

Players spent a combined 600m hours playing the six live games in the company's portfolio last year, which included titles such as Tribal Wars and Forge of Empires. In fact revenues for the former are now six times higher than in 2007.

Having started as an online and browser games specialist, InnoGames has since branched into mobile games. In 2016, more than half of all new user registrations came from smart devices. In addition to its home territory of Germany, the United States and France were InnoGames' most lucrative markets.

"Since we founded the company in 2007, InnoGames was able to profitably grow each and every year," says InnoGames CEO Hendrik Klindworth. "2016 has been the most successful year in our company's history, with the results surpassing our own very ambitious goals.

"As InnoGames turns 10 this year, our focus is on our upcoming mobile-only titles and sustainable growth. All in all, we plan to fill 50 new job positions in our offices in Hamburg and Düsseldorf this year."

Last October, MTG acquired 35% of the free-to-play firm for €91m.
