Infospace appoints new research and development exec
New VP to represent firm on CTIA standards committees
Mobile content and applications provider Infospace has announced the appointment of Dr. Reed Thorkilsden to the role of vice president, technology, research and development.
Dr. Thorkilsden brings more than 25 years of strategic business development experience to the company, most recently serving as director of technical business development for Seattle start-up firm CoCo Communications Corporation. He has also worked for BT subsidiary Syntegra, Lucent Technologies and AT&T Bell Labs.
In his new role, Dr. Thorkilsden will oversee the implementation of new technologies in Infospace's mobile and online businesses, leveraging key relationships with the major North American carriers, infrastructure partners and handset manufacturers. He will also represent the firm on standards committees within CTIA and the Open Mobile Alliance.
