Industry party at the Old Fair: "Back to the Roots"

This year's party for the GC (Games Convention) industry takes place on the Thursday of the fair, 24 August, at 8.00 p.m. with the motto "Back to the Roots". The industry party is going back to early origins in more ways than one: the venue for this event is Hall 16 on the old trade fair site. This is one of the loveliest locations in Leipzig and since March 2006 has been making a new name for itself as the "Volkspalast" - a centre for events.

With its light-coloured exterior, Leipzig's latest venue is reminiscent of the White House in Washington D.C., but inside, differently sized halls lead off in all directions from a giant domed hall.

The concept for the GC party will also return to the original intention of the event. "Together with the industry, we have decided that this evening should be used as an occasion primarily devoted to cultivating contacts", says GC project director Angela Schierholz.

This means that exhibitors and trade visitors will be presented with a quieter atmosphere this year. The venue makes it possible on the one hand to intensify business contacts and cultivate friendships over the buffet and wine, whilst on the other, dance fans are also given a chance to enjoy themselves, with DJs in action till the early hours in a specially designated area.

Tickets for the industry's party evening cost 39 euros.
