Indie Game Magazine
10th issue showcases the best independent games of 2010.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
NEW YORK, NY, May 3, 2010--Indie Game Magazine ( www.indiegamemag.com), the premier source of independent gaming news, reviews and culture, has just published its milestone 10th issue, featuring an oversized look at the best independent games of 2010.
"This is an extremely important issue for us--and for our readers," said Mike Gnade, Editor and Publisher, Indie Game Mag. "When we started less than two years ago, we weren't certain that the market would support a premium content subscription model, particularly with the plethora of gaming blogs and other free outlets. It is with no small pride that we offer what we think is our best work to date, as IGM grows apace with the explosion of interest in independent gaming through new platforms such as the iPhone and the iPad."
Among the issue's first-looks are Rocket Birds and Igneous, along with a special cover story interview with Erin Robinson, IGF host and rising indie games superstar whose hotly anticipated Puzzle Bots has just been published by Wadjet Eye Games. Also notable: Bitmob editor Brett Bates discusses how indie gaming has become a mature business, thanks in part to intense interest from mainstream publishers.
In other IGM #10 highlights, IGF winners Machinarium and Osmos get the review treatment, as does casual powerhouse PixelJunk Shooter and the supremely beautiful Saira. In the Developers' Corner, Jonathan Wolf from Rogue Pirate Ninja Interactive weighs in on what to avoid during production and why developers should work on games they like, not just ones they think will sell.
Those up for a challenge will delight in the Ultimate Indie Game Quiz. Not only is it a chance for readers to show their independent gaming smarts, but the best of the bunch will be entered into a special drawing to receive a free copy of Gratuitous Space Battles, Crayon Physic s Deluxe, or Puzzle Bots, after the answers are revealed in the next issue of IGM.
IGM is available for single purchase as well as via subscription in both print and digital formats, as well as the iPhone and iPad . To find out what you've been missing, visit the brand-spanking-new IGM website: www.indiegamemag.com.
