IMAGINA 08: RockBand is Best Videogame

MTV Games' and Harmonix' RockBand has been selected as the Best Videogame at the IMAGINA 2008 awards.

The awards ceremony took place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, with the participation of 30 countries.

RockBand, produced in the UK, beat out fellow nominees Doll (France), Heavy Metal Tanks (Germany), the Starcraft 2 Teaser (US) and the World of Warcraft Expansion Pack Introduction (US).

IMAGINA 2008, which takes place January 30 - February 1, highlights 3D visualisation technology in media & entertainment, landscape & territory, architecture and industry.

Conferences showcased the visual effects of films such as Asterix aux Jeux Olympiques, Sweeney Todd, Children of Men and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End received an award for the Best Special Effects, with Disney-Pixar's Ratatouille named Best Feature.
