4,985,000 monthly visitors recorded by comScore.

London: Thursday 22nd October 2009 - IGN Entertainment has today announced a partnership with digital research specialist, comScore, to produce the most accurate viewing figures yet for its UK network.

comScore is widely recognised within the media buying community as the leading methodology for understanding online audiences.

comScore’s new Hybrid measurement system goes one step further towards 100% accurate audience measurement by combining server data from publishers themselves alongside fully consistent, panel-based audience measures.

The results show that in September, total IGN Entertainment UK audience reached an impressive 4,985,000 monthly unique visitors which represents 11.9% of September’s total internet audience (41,763,000).

IGN Entertainment’s flagship sites IGN.com (3,177,000 monthly UK uniques), AskMen.com (820,000 monthly UK uniques) and RottenTomatoes.com (684,000 monthly UK uniques) make up the bulk of the group’s audience reach. Other sites within the IGN Entertainment stable such as Gamespy, Fileplanet and Direct2Drive bring the total group figure to 4,985,000 monthly unique visitors.

Engagement metrics also reached record numbers in September with total UK page views on IGN.com reaching 39,000,000 (avg 12 pages per visitor), 6 million pages views (avg 7 pages per visitor) on AskMen.com and 6 million pages views (avg 9 pages per visitor) on Rottentomatoes.com.

“This advanced new comScore methodology provides an unprecedented level of clarity for our clients and partners. This panoramic view along with the cross-category transparency that’s needed in this fast growing sector supplies an extremely accurate measurement of our UK audience and clearly demonstrates the extensive audience reach of our leading entertainment network ” commented Justin Keeling, IGN Entertainment’s UK MD.

"The web has developed, and online measurement techniques must evolve with that development in order to give a true and clear count of online visitation numbers. That is why comScore is committed to a combined panel-server approach, why we have partnered with Omniture, and why we recently submitted an open paper to ABCe to work with the industry on the creation of a new person-centric measure for web-site server measurement. By working more closely with publishers and advertisers in this way we are able to provide much more accurate figures" added Mike Read, UK Managing Director of comScore.
