IGN Entertainment announced that it is expanding its digital retail store, Direct2Drive, into the UK.
Direct2Drive will initially feature more than 100 titles, including Civilisation IV, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The company has deals with publishers such as Activision, Take-Two, SOE, and THQ.
âDirect2Drive is the quickest and most convenient way to own a game. We want users to discover games through our comprehensive editorial coverage on IGN.com, try before they buy on FilePlanet.com and then buy the ones they love via Direct2Drive,â said Justin Keeling, European general manager, IGN Entertainment.
Direct2Drive was launched in the US in October of 2004 and houses a roster of games from publishers such as Activision, Blizzard, Atari, NC Soft, and Vivendi Games.
It is expected that the UK site will eventually be expanded to allow downloading of movies and television shows, which are already available on the US Direct2Drive site.
