IGC West

Indie studio event to be held next month in LA, with Sanrio Digital's Robert Ferrari lined up to speak.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES – Sept. 22, 2009 – IGC West, a Game Path event for indie studios, has lined up game industry exec Robert Ferrari, vice president of publishing and business development at Sanrio Digital and Typhoon Games, along with top business, technical and marketing speakers, to provide tips and insight to game developers currently working on casual, social and mobile titles. The conference will take place this fall at the Marina del Rey Marriott, Thursday – Friday, Nov. 5-6, 2009.

Ferrari manages a network of global partnerships and initiatives across the Americas and Europe to promote and publish Sanrio Digital projects, including the Hello Kitty® Online free-to-play MMO, the SanrioTown social network, and other console, handheld, and iPhone games based on Sanrio IP.

A highly respected veteran and executive in the online games industry, Ferrari previously was VP of business development at Turbine, a leading publisher and developer of MMO games. During his five-year tenure at Turbine, Ferrari is credited with the publishing and business development efforts behind the successful launches of The Lord of the Rings Online™, Dungeons & Dragons Online™: Stormreach™, and the Asheron's Call® expansion packs.

Ferrari’s IGC West keynote, “Branded Social Gaming - The Convergence of Brands, Online Games and Online Communities,” will take place Thursday, Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. in the Palisades Room at the Marriott.

Other key sessions at IGC West will include:

Advanced Scrum and Agile Development by Clinton Keith, Clinton Keith Consulting Advertising on the iPhone by Tom Hubina, Amplified Games Capturing the New Consumer with Smart PR and Social Media Techniques by Sue Bohle, The Bohle Company Evolution of a Control Freak by Dev Jana, Cat's Cradle Studios Games Gone Social by Dennis Fong, Raptr Getting onto the PlayStation Network by Gabe Ahn, SCEA Using Micropayments, by David Marcus, Zong

As the game industry barrels through a time of transition and change, studio leads and industry consultants will share lessons learned and interact with attendees in Game Path’s intimate and unique session format. The conference follows the steps of the very successful IGC East, which took place in Boston earlier this year. Both established and indie game developers looking into console, PC and mobile development will find sessions that will sharpen their skill sets and improve the quality of their games and apps.

During IGC West Game Demo Night, attendees can show off their art, design and programming prowess to publishers, peers and industry press. Registration for Game Demo Night is free with conference admission, but prospective attendees should know that space is limited. Demo Night at IGC East was a big success so developers are encouraged to register early.

Interested parties can register for IGC West at http://www.igcwest.com. Early Registration for the conference is $275 in advance for both days (includes 15 percent web-only discount) and $165 for one day attendance. At-the-door registration is $325 for both days and $195 for one day.

The IGC West conference is produced by Game Path LLC, an independent conference and trade show management company.
