iFone crowned top mobile game publisher
Manchester publisher scoops award for second year running
Manchester-based mobile entertainment provider iFone has been named Top Performing Mobile Game Publisher for by trade publication Mobile Games Analyst.
iFone released a series of hit titles during 2005 including Tetris, Lemmings and Monopoly, which made an appearance in the ELSPA-compiled mobile game charts 14 times over the course of the year. ELSPA tracks game download data across the O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone and 3 networks.
This is the second year running iFone has been awarded the title of top mobile publisher. iFone has also been listed at in the Sunday Times Tech Track as the UK's second fasted growing technology company.
"The combination of well-loved brands, high-quality game play and support for a wide range of handsets has served iFone well in the UK market," said Mobile Games Analyst's Stuart Dredge.
"The ELSPA chart shows that the company's games are winners with consumers and operators alike."
iFone CEO Morgan O'Rahilly added: "We're delighted that our games continue to top the charts. We plan to produce many more chart successes throughout 2006."
Forthcoming iFone titles include 3D racer V-Rally from Atari, which is slated for a release later this month. The company also plans to publish a series of Sega classics including Sonic the Hedgehog and Chu Chu Rocket.
