I-play's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo short-listed for GSM 2007 Award
London, UK & San Mateo, CA - 9th January, 2007: I-play, the mobile entertainment company, today announced that The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo, the most recent addition to the mobile gaming industry's most successful racing franchise 'The Fast and The Furious', has been short-listed for the 'Best Made for Mobile Game' category in the GSM Association's Global Mobile Awards 2007.
Developed and published by I-play, through an agreement with Universal Mobile Entertainment, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo recorded over a million downloads in just over five months. This builds on the huge success of the overall franchise which has now hit an incredible 6.5 million downloads.
The nomination comes on the back of further praise for the title having picked up the 'Best Racing / Driving Game' of the year by IGN Wireless late last year.
David Gosen, CEO, I-play commented: "We're very proud of our Fast and Furious franchise and to be short-listed for a 3GSM Global Mobile award is great news for our development team who worked incredibly hard to create such an innovative game around the popular 'drifting' phenomenon. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo was the biggest game launch in I-play's history and is unmatched by any other racing game on the mobile platform."
Winners will be announced at an award ceremony on the 13th February at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona. http://3gsmworldcongress.com/
