Hydrophobia

Manchester based developer wows at E3 2010.

“HydrophobiaTM” at E3 2010, as it swept up multiple awards including:

· Best Downloadable Game – Gametrailers.com

XBLA Game of E3 – IncGamers.com Best of E3 (joint winner) – IncGamers.com

“HydrophobiaTM” has been developed using Dark Energy Digital’s own “InfiniteWorldsTM” game creation system, which uses bespoke procedural technology. This allows for a retail quality AAA experience for a tiny fraction of the usual file size, pushing back the boundaries for downloadable games.

The game will also be the first outing for Dark Energy Digital’s revolutionary “HydroEngineTM” technology – the first true fluid dynamics engine for games. “HydroEngineTM” models flowing water in real-time, a true physics simulation with emergent behavior which affects objects and characters in the scene with jaw-dropping authenticity.

“HydrophobiaTM” is set in the near future when the world has become massively over-populated, and takes place onboard the “Queen of the World”, a city sized ship which tours the globe and is home to the wealthy elite. An epic backstory reveals the rise of Malthusian politics as all eyes look to NanoCell, one of the Founding Fathers of the great vessel, who has vowed to develop the technology which willfeed the burgeoning human population.

“The response at E3 was sensational, people were amazed that we could deliver a AAA quality game like this on XBLA, and HydroEngine really fired the imagination. It means so much to the whole team here to receive this recognition.” – Pete Jones, Joint Managing Director, Dark Energy Digital Ltd Download your E3 Press Pack from www.hydrophobia-game.com/e3 (password: n4n0c311).
