Timothy Gerritsen, CEO of Rune and Prey developer Human Head Studios, has left the company following differences over which direction the business should take.
According to consumer site FiringSquad.com, Gerritsen said he is still on "amicable" terms with Human Head - and that disputes over strategy were only one factor in his decision to leave.
Human Head was established by six former Raven Software employees in 1997, and Gerritsen joined the company less than a year later. The studio's first game was Rune, released in 2000, with Dead Man's Hand following in 2004. Last year Human Head won critical acclaim for PC and Xbox 360 shooter Prey.
Paul MacArthur, current president of Human Head and one of its co-founders, is taking on the role of interim CEO. Gerritsen has yet to announce his next career move but has said he plans to remain in the games industry.
