Horizon Zero Dawn delayed to 2017

Guerrilla's next PS4-exclusive pushed back to February 28 "to deliver fully on our ambitious vision"

Another high-profile PlayStation 4 exclusive has been delayed. Guerrilla Games managing director Hermen Hulst today confirmed that Horizon Zero Dawn will not make its original 2016 launch window.

"We've decided to push the release date for Horizon Zero Dawn to February 28, 2017," Hulst said. "It wasn't an easy choice to make; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it. However, we also want to ensure that Horizon Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn."

Horizon Zero Dawn was originally announced at Sony's E3 2015 press briefing, and managed to generate considerable buzz for the game despite being featured alongside reveals for long-demanded titles like Shenmue III, a Final Fantasy VII remake, and The Last Guardian, the last of which is still set for a 2016 release.

This year has already seen delays for two of the PS4's most anticipated titles. Uncharted 4 was pushed back a number of times before its May launch, and No Man's Sky (which is also set for PC release) was shifted from June to August.
