Highborn

Trailer released of iPhone strategy game, and an update too.

LAS VEGAS, NV – June 9, 2010 – Jet Set Games, TM led by the creators of the original Command & Conquer games, today released an official trailer for Highborn, TM the critically and commercially successful strategy game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. In addition, the developer also submitted a game update to Apple that addresses minor gameplay issues and adds enhancements to the game.

The official trailer is now available on the company’s official YouTube page at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmK8qoHi-6I, and offers viewers a look at gameplay footage and features from both types of gameplay in Highborn: tactical map movement and 3D combat.

The game update, currently pending Apple approval, fixes a few minor gameplay issues in advance of a larger update the company is currently working on. The update submitted this week includes the following improvements:

Enhanced Checkpoint Feature – The “Save Checkpoint” feature has been graphically enhanced to make players more aware of the save game options. Disabled Screen Dimming – The iPhone and iPod Touch’s screen dimming feature has been disabled to prevent the display from dimming or turning off during longer action sequences. Facebook Wall Postings – Players can now choose to post their Highborn success stories to their Facebook feed. Bug Fixes – Fixed a few minor gameplay bugs and updated a few graphical effects.

Jet Set Games President Rade Stojsavljevic and Lead Designer Joseph B. Hewitt, IV, discuss these updates and give a sneak peak at future updates in the first Highborn video podcast, which can be found on the Jet Set Games YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJE7cwbUALE.

“We’re thankful for the amazing response Highborn has received from the media and the community, and we are dedicated to continuously improving and enhancing the game for them,” said Rade Stojsavljevic, president of Jet Set Games. “In the very near future, we plan on addressing more significant requests, including adding an “undo” move button in some form, and expanding multiplayer beyond Facebook.”

Highborn is currently available on Apple’s iTunes App Store ( http://itunes.com/app/Highborn) for a limited-time, introductory price of $2.99.

Highborn is casual, turn-based strategy game with a twist, developed by a team of industry veterans, many of who created the original Command & Conquer products, including Rade Stojsavljevic, Adam Isgreen, Joseph B. Hewitt, IV, and Westwood Studios Co-Founder Brett W. Sperry.

In Highborn, players are treated to two strategy games that combine to offer an intelligent, tactical experience without the frenetic play of a traditional RTS. Players move forces around an overhead map to secure spells and combat support, then dive into 3D combat to deploy those advantages against an unsuspecting enemy. All the fun and fighting is set against an irreverent tale, filled with wacky heroes, witty dialogue and wild assumptions.

Features:

A Light Touch – Highborn is a casual mobile strategy game that offers a satisfying experience for players, no matter if they spend minutes or hours in the game. Time for a New Strategy – Highborn features a unique blend of strategic movement and 3D combat that caters to a variety of gameplay styles and offers a great deal of replayability. Multiplay at Your Pace – Turn-based gaming enables players to think, then act, when playing one-on-one against their Facebook friends, and allows them to have multiple games going at once. Many Styles of Play – Players unlock hero characters as they progress through the game, giving them access to different abilities and play styles, along with different strategies to use against their opponents.

Jet Set Games is planning to release additional single- and multi-player gameplay for Highborn in the form of in-app downloadable content. The company is also finalizing an iPad-specific version of Highborn for release later this summer, pricing to be announced.
