Havok launches Project Anarchy 3D mobile engine
"Delighted to be able to offer professional grade tools to mobile devs for free"
Yesterday Havok revealed its "complete end-to-end mobile 3D game production engine," Project Anarchy, offering the tech free on a number of mobile platforms.
"We're consistently blown away by what the AAA industry creates with our technology," said head of developer relations Ross O'Dwyer.
"We're really delighted to be able to offer these professional grade tools to mobile developers for free and we look forward to supporting the mobile game development community to make some stunning games with the technology over the next few years."
Project Anarchy includes Havok's Vision Engine, Physics, Animation and AI tools, game samples and tutorials and will be free on a number of leading mobile platforms (though which ones weren't specified) and developers won't be excluded regardless of company size or revenue. There will also be an online community to offer help and support on launch.
Havok's tech can already be found in some of the biggest AAA titles, including Halo 4, Assassin's Creed III, Guild Wars 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Late last year Havok acquired German 3D studio Rocketbox Studios for an unspecified amount.
