GUITAR HEROES ROCK GIBSON STAGE AT DONINGTON
Festival-stealing performances from members of the public as Guitar Hero players share stage with rock legends
Monday 12 June 2006/... Over 40 members of the public transformed themselves from ordinary human beings into actual rock Gods this weekend as they played RedOctane's Guitar Hero on stage at Donington's Download Festival.
The festival - which saw headlining acts from Guns and Roses and Metallica - boasted equally stunning performances from over 40 members of the public who gave it their all on the Gibson stage. The festival's nights were rocked out with renditions of metal classics such as Ace of Spades, Symphony of Destruction and Bark At The Moon, to name just a few.
"It was an absolutely incredible few days," says Dave Noble, Business Development Manager, RedOctane. "To see these Guitar Hero players up on stage, strutting their stuff in ways in which Axl Rose would be proud was fantastic. It was brilliant to see the rock star poses transferred from the living rooms of the nation to the country's greatest stages, and we're extremely grateful to Gibson and Live Nation, organisers of the Download Festival, for helping us make Guitar Hero players' dreams come true."
Guitar Hero was released in the UK for PlayStation 2® in April 2006 to universal critical acclaim. The game comes complete with a Guitar Hero SG controller, modelled on the classic Gibson SG, with which players play lead guitar parts to 30 classic rock tunes. Guitar Hero has picked up a stack of accolades since its release, most recently collecting a PC World 'World Class Award' which ranked it as the 19th best product of 2006. This award added to the many commendations that Guitar Hero has received since its North American launch last November including five D.I.C.E. industry awards and an average review score on Game Rankings.com - a site that collates all press comment and reaction - as 92 percent.
