Guinness World Records Gamers Edition 2009
More record breaking events planned for this year's edition of the book.
London, UK (16 January, 2008) -The global authority on record-breaking achievements, Guinness World Records, unveils the latest and greatest in video gaming with the release of Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer’s Edition on 4th February.
In celebration of the new book launch, eccentric British designer Edd China takes to the streets in one of his unusual inventions to set a brand new world record for the Fastest Mobile Gaming Rig. Fully roadworthy and complete with screens, water cooler and a phone, the office-like unit will be fitted with three fully powered gaming consoles during Edd’s inaugural drive around central London. He aims to reach a minimum speed of 60 kilometres per hour and give participating gamers an experience of a life time.
Guinness World Records offers members of the press to secure one of the three exclusive seats and participate in the record attempt, which will take place at 10:00am on the 3rd of February 2009 in central London.
As part of the activities to commemorate the new Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer’s Edition, the world’s youngest professional video gamer, ten-year old Lil Poison (Victor De Leon III) will visit the UK for the first time between the 9th and 11th of February. An avid video game player since the age of two, Long Island (NY) native Lil Poison claimed the title after signing with MLG recruiters as a Pro Gamer at the age of six. On average, Lil Poison spends one to two hours per day on video gaming but never at the expense of school work or physical activities. He ranks Halo CE, Rockband and Castle Crashers among his “top 10 favorite games” and does not have a preferred platform though he currently plays mostly on Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Playstation 3. Although he practises his gaming skills every day, Lil Poison is a top student with the same interests as any typical ten-year old and enjoys spending time with friends, swimming and playing basketball.
