Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer’s Edition

Little big gaming marathons launch new tome.

NEW YORK (January 13th, 2011) - Guinness World Records® - the global authority on all things record-breaking - is proud to introduce the Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition , its latest chronicle of video gaming history. To commemorate the launch of this year's book and the release of the latest PS3™ PLAY, SHARE CREATE experience, LittleBigPlanet™ 2 , Guinness World Records and Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) are hosting three days of video game record breaking at the Sony Style store's PlayStation Lounge in New York City.

A group of top gamers will attempt to 'up their game' in an attempt to make history by setting records in the following categories:

Longest Marathon Playing LittleBigPlanet 2 Longest Marathon Playing A Platform Video Game Most Video Game Genres Played In One Video Game 24 Hours Most User-Generated Video Game Levels Played In 24 Hours Most User Generated Video Game Levels Played In A Marathon  

LittleBigPlanet 2 looms large in this year's edition of the book with the game's main character, Sackboy™, gracing the book's cover and a bevy of facts and records cited within its pages. Marathon records also play a big part in the book with records for the Longest Video Games Marathon on a First Person Shooter (33 hours), Longest Video Games Marathon Playing a Racing Game (30 hours) and Longest Video Games Marathon on a Dance/Rhythm Game (13 hr 33 min 56 sec) all making the grade.
