Guardian Technology section to cease publication
Closure forms part of cuts at GNM as revenues fall £33m
The Guardian's Thursday Technology print section is to cease publication at the end of the year, it has been confirmed. The closure forms part of a series of cutbacks at Guardian News & Media following a GBP 33 million drop in revenues.
In total more than 100 editorial and commercial jobs are expected to go, with editorial restructuring to be managed through voluntary redundancies and redeployment.
The newspaper's Technology section remit covers gaming, mobile and internet reviews, features and news.
While the print section will close at the end of 2009, GamesIndustry.biz understands that Technology's online presence will continue and its staffing levels will not be affected.
