Ground Control
Now available on the digital distribution site, along with a number of other Rebellion titles.
Warsaw, Poland – July 9, 2009. GOG.com ( http://www.gog.com), the DRM-free digital distribution site that just loves to bring back the hits, is in complete and utter disrepair due to the invasion of numerous classic PC games from UK Super Developer Rebellion. Two games have already seized control of the site: Ground Control + Dark Conspiracy expansion ( http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/ground_control_expansion) for the low price of $5.99 and Evil Genius ( http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/evil_genius) for only $9.99, while other acclaimed titles like Lords of Magic: Special Edition, Empire Earth: Gold Edition and more are almost at the gates, waiting to cause even more unrest amidst the GOG.com community.
Massive Entertainment’s Ground Control was one of 2000’s best strategy games, sporting great 3D graphics, a fulfilling single-player campaign with an excellent story, tactical combat and fast-paced multiplayer matches. Ground Control makes its way to GOG.com with the original title and the Ground Control: Dark Conspiracy add-on.
2004’s Evil Genius took players in a completely different direction, putting them in the role of a diabolical super villain in charge of a 60s-spy-movie-style evil organization. They were tasked with managing their secret compound, assigning tasks to henchmen and fighting off do-gooders with the ultimate goal of – what else – global domination!
Lords of Magic: Special Edition is a turn-based strategy game that transports players to a fantasy world in which Balkoth, the Lord of Death, has set out to destroy all other faiths. Players choose one of the eight warring factions – including Death, Air, Chaos and more – to take into battle, each with its own powerful Lord character and unique set of fantasy units. Lords of Magic: Special Edition includes both the full original Lords of Magic plus the additional Legends of Urak Quest Pack. Also included are a new Lord Editor, 8 new buildings, 17 new monsters and 5 new storylines based on legendary characters.
Empire Earth: Gold Edition, a 3D real-time strategy game from developer Stainless Steel Studios and recipient of GameSpy.com’s PC Game of the Year 2001 award, broke new ground by allowing players to choose from more than 20 civilizations as they battled across epochs ranging from prehistoric times to the not-so-distant future. The Gold Edition includes the extensive Art of Conquest expansion pack, which adds space exploration, new civilizations and much more.
“This deal with Rebellion is really exciting because of the sheer quality of the games it brings to the site,” said Adam Oldakowski, Managing Director of GOG.com. “These titles bring countless hours of top-notch gameplay to GOG.com, and really demonstrate the depth and breadth of the strategy genre – something you’re really only going to find on PC.”
Jason Kingsley, Rebellion CEO and Creative Director said “When the GOG.com opportunity presented itself, we were very impressed with their platform and the reach they could provide in delivering our games to the most customers. That, and the fact they share our enthusiasm for our games, helped seal the deal. I love RTS based games and these titles are very close to my heart and we’re confident GOG.com will provide a fantastic service and get everyone playing our games!”
Ground Control + Dark Conspiracy expansion and Evil Genius are now available at GOG.com, with more titles being added in the coming weeks.
