Golden Joystick Awards 2010

Voting now open.

04/05/10 – Voting is now open for the 28th Annual Golden Joystick Awards and your votes will make all the difference as we gear up for the world’s biggest gaming awards.

Head on over to http://www.goldenjoystick.com now and have your say in as many of the 16 categories as you want. You’ll need to move quickly though; longlist voting runs only until Thursday, 27th May. Votes for the longlist will directly influence the nominations that appear in the shortlist stage of voting, which opens on 14th June 2010.

Make sure you show the very best games, developers, publishers and retailers the love they deserve. Don’t be afraid to nail your flag to the virtual mast and encourage your friends to join you in attempting to secure immortality for your favourites. To join up with like-minded fans, visit our website, check out the Golden Joystick Awards on Facebook and you can also follow http://www.twitter.com/GoldenJoysticks or use the hashtag #joysticks2010.

Breaking Joysticks’ tradition, we’ve made significant changes to the awards categories for 2010. No longer are there any console-specific awards, instead - the Joysticks will be awarded for the best titles in specific genres, including Fighting, Strategy and Music. We continue to celebrate UK talent with the ‘UK Developer of the Year’ category and the prestigious ‘Ultimate Game of the Year’ category remains, as does ‘One to Watch’, predictor of so many videogame hits over the years.

Organised by Future, the special-interest media group, The Golden Joystick Awards are voted for by the only people who matter – gamers. We’re proud to call the Joysticks the People’s Gaming Awards.

The Golden Joysticks have been the ultimate accolade in gaming since 1982 and are now recognised as the biggest and most popular gaming awards on the planet. A spectacular 1.2m public votes saw the Joysticks pick up a Guinness World Record in 2009.

Last year, Activision’s Call of Duty series dominated the event, scooping three awards, and gamer power won out as Fallout 3 was named ‘Ultimate Game of the Year’. Once again, the combined might of the online community was recognised when fans of Runescape, the world’s largest free MMORPG combined to get Jagex named ‘UK Developer of the Year’.
