24 September 2010 A wide range of best selling games feature in the nominations list for the Strategy Game of the Year, in the world’s biggest video games awards event, the Golden Joystick Awards.
A universe of different worlds collide in this diverse line-up of contenders. From the bizarre space age strategy of Command & Conquer, to the Napoleonic intrigue of Napoleon: Total War to plant life and zombies in Plant vs. Zombies.

There are ten games in all competing for the lion’s share of gamers’ votes and the ultimate accolade, a Golden Joystick.

The categories in the Golden Joystick Awards are voted for by the only people who matter – the gamers themselves. Known as the ‘people’s gaming awards’ it is also held in high esteem in the global video games industry with nearly 1,000 executives attending the glittering ceremony, which will this year be held at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel on 29th October 2010.
The ever-growing Golden Joystick Awards has been the ultimate accolade in gaming since 1982 and is now recognised as the biggest and most popular gaming awards on the planet. Gamers cast 1,223,646 votes in 2009 as the awards scooped its own accolade, being named ‘World’s most popular video games awards’ by Guinness World Records.
