Golden Joystick Awards 2010

Rich Hall to preside over next month's ceremony.

For immediate distribution

22 September 2010 The Golden Joystick Awards is thrilled to announce leading US Comedian Rich Hall will host the 28th annual awards ceremony, held in London on 29th October.

One of the most popular live and TV comedians on the circuit, Hall promises to bring the house down as Master of Ceremonies for one of the interactive entertainment industry’s biggest events. He joins the illustrious list of past hosts including Sean Lock, Matt Lucas, Frankie Boyle and Jonathan Ross.

Hall has been a regular on British television appearing no less than 16 times on QI, plus guest slots on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News for You and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He has also performed on Jack Dee’s Live at the Apollo in a series of sell-out shows as well as being cited by Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, as the inspiration for character Moe Szyslak!

The ever-growing Golden Joystick Awards has been the ultimate accolade in gaming since 1982 and is now recognised as the biggest and most popular gaming awards on the planet. 1,223,646 votes were cast by gamers in 2009 as the Joysticks scooped its own honour, being named ‘Worlds most popular video games awards’ by Guinness World Records.

Emma Parkinson, Organiser of the Golden Joystick Awards said “This year’s Golden Joystick Awards ceremony is shaping up to be the biggest and best in the event’s long standing history. Votes have been flooding in, and the competition for top honours is as fierce as we have ever seen. Having a comedian of Rich Hall’s stature as the ceremony’s host, plus our as-yet-unannounced big plans for the after-party, we’re expecting it to be a night to remember.”

With just a few tables remaining, 1000 guests will be entertained at the ceremony. Votes cast now at www.goldenjoystick.com will decide who scoops a prestigious Golden Joystick when the winners are announced at the ceremony at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on Friday, 29th October. Voting for the awards closes on October 25th 2010.
