Mobile games developer and publisher Glu Mobile is offering gamers a taste of the winter Olympics with the US launch of its latest game, Jamaican Bobsled.

Developed and published by Glu Mobile, Jamaican Bobsled features the infamous "Cool Runnings" team who caught the world's attention 1998 by overcoming all the odds, swapping the comfort of the sun-soaked island of Jamaica for the icy cold of Calgary in order to compete in the Olympic Games.

Arcade Mode challenges players to collect medals placed along the fast-flowing track, while avoiding dangerous obstacles. The Championship mode tasks the player with guiding the Jamaican team to Olympic victory by picking up the gold medal in a series of races.

Each mode includes a variety of power-ups, speed boosts and super-jumps, as players race through four track environments set at different times of the day, covering a combined total of thirty distinct bobsled courses.

Robert Nashak, Glu's chief creative officer commented: "With the winter Olympics only a month away, fans are anxiously awaiting their favourite events and the Jamaican Bobsled mobile game is a perfect way for them to get in on the action."

"Jamaican Bobsled gives mobile subscribers a fun way to show their support for the team while playing a truly engaging mobile game," Nashak added.

The title is currently available through major wireless carriers in North America, and will be heading to other territories worldwide over the coming months.
