GlobalFun/Cartoon Network deal

Mobile games based on Ben 10 and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends to ensue.

Karlskrona Sweden, May 12th 2008 – GlobalFun and Turner Broadcasting System Latin America announced today that the company is entering into a development and distribution deal for mobile games based on popular Cartoon Network franchises Ben 10 and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.

The two mobile games under development will be released during 2008. Under the agreement, Turner Latin America will distribute the titles via their own D2C channels such as Cartoon Network’s websites, while GlobalFun will manage distribution in other sales channels in the region.

GlobalFun’s local office in Buenos Aires will be handling the development, project management and distribution while GlobalFun in Sweden will secure quality, packaging and physical deployment.

This partnership with Turner for the Latin American market follows a series of deals with the company’s European offices, covering multiple development and distribution deals in EMEA as previously announced.

Ben 10 has been a global smash since its debut on Cartoon Network, and tracks the adventures of 10 year old Ben Tennyson. When Ben discovers a mysterious device, he gains the power to change into 10 different alien heroes, each with uniquely awesome powers! The new Ben 10 game, “Power of the Omnitrix”, is an action-packed title that will put players in Ben’s role, fighting their way through 12 enemy-infested levels. Fortunately, Ben has access to the Omnitrix and will be able to transform into three different alien-heroes, including Heatblast, Fourarms and Cannonbolt.

The Foster’s game is based on the adorable series Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. What happens to imaginary friends when they are not wanted anymore? They end up at Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, home to the best friends you can think of. The Foster’s game will focus on one of the most beloved characters on the show, giving players the chance to adopt Cheese and interact with him in many original and funny ways.

“As we continue to grow our relations with Turner Broadcasting it is natural that we also expand this territory wise. Having a local office in Buenos Aires Argentina makes this a lot easier as we are close to our customer and their prime market” commented Marcus Johansson, CEO GlobalFun.

“We are very excited to announce these will be the first titles originally developed for our region, This gives us tremendous advantages when it comes to being synchronized with our regional strategy, and is specially important to enhance our ability to generate multiplatform experiences, giving our users the chance to interact with our brand through web, mobile and On-Air, said Pablo Zuccarino, Digital Media Director for Cartoon Network & Boomerang Latin America.

Josh Weinrobe, Director of Business Development for Turner Latin America added “ This partnership with GlobalFun supports our vision to aggressively grow Cartoon Network Latin America’s mobile business by teaming up with best-in-class technology, distribution, and content development partners. Our audience has grown to expect the best from Cartoon Network not just on television, but on all forms of media, new and traditional. GlobalFun will be instrumental in our efforts to deliver on our multiplatform brand promise.”
